Quanysh Hands Zhetysu Its First Defeat of the Women’s National League Season

Zhetysu – Quanysh 2–3 (5–25, 24–26, 25–22, 25–14, 14–16)

The reigning champions suffered their first defeat of the season. The opening set turned into a nightmare for Zhetysu’s home fans. Few could probably recall such a wide score difference in a match between two favourites.

In the second set, the visitors spent much of the time chasing their opponents. However, they performed better in the closing stages to take the set and move ahead 2–0.

It was only from the third set onward that Zhetysu truly found their rhythm, dominating the third and fourth sets on home court.

Just when it seemed that a comeback was on the cards, Quanysh seized the initiative in the tie-break.

Saim Pakkan’s team had three match points, but Marko Gršić’s players fought back to level the score late in the set. Nevertheless, the North Kazakhstan Region club left Taldykorgan with two points.
