Kazakhstan Receives Support to Host the Asian Sitting Volleyball Championships

Kazakhstan has received support from the Asian Para Volleyball Federation to host the Asian Sitting Volleyball Championships.

The tournament is planned to take place in Astana in 2027 and will serve as an important qualifying stage for the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

The decision was announced in Nagoya, Japan, where Dusenbai Nurbayevich Turganov, Vice President of the Kazakhstan National Volleyball Federation, held a working meeting with Lu Kailang, President of the Asian Para Volleyball Federation, and Jürgen Schrapp, President of the World ParaVolley.

The parties discussed preparations for the Asian Championships, including the selection of a sports venue, team accommodation, refereeing arrangements, and participation by Asian countries.

The next important step will be an inspection visit by Federation representatives to Astana, scheduled for early 2027. Experts will assess the readiness of the sports infrastructure and discuss the next stages of organizing the tournament.

The Vice President of the Kazakhstan National Volleyball Federation also held a working meeting with Kairat Boranbayev, President of the National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan. The meeting addressed key issues concerning the preparation of the national sitting volleyball team, as well as plans for the team’s preparations for the 2027 Asian Championships.
